To the eastern part of Goa is nestled Western Ghats. It is home to vast and diverse flora and fauna. There are many wildlife and bird sanctuaries which exhibits and conserves them. They are treasure troves for nature lovers and ordinary tourists alike. The important of them are Bondla wildlife sanctuary, Molem wildlife sanctuary, Cotigao wildlife sanctuary, Madei wildlife sanctuary, Netravali wildlife sanctuary, Mahaveer wildlife sanctuary and Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary.

 

If you travel to the interiors of Goa, by the streets are specimens of colonial architecture. There are many monuments and houses which stand as lingering echoes of colonial past. Apart from them, there are the churches which tell stories of colonial architectural splendor. Prominent of them are Se Cathedral, Basilica of Bom Jesus, Church of Lady of Rosary, Chapel of St. Catherine, Church of Carmelites, Church of St.

 

Cajetan, Chapel of St. Francis Xavier etc. Out of these Basilica of Bom Jesus is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Then there are gorgeous temples and intimidatng forts, some of which show Portuguese influence and some not. More prominent of temples are Shree Bhagavati Temple, Brahma Temple, Shree Chandranath Temple, Datta Mandir, Shree Gopal Ganapathi Temple, Kamakshi Saunsthan Shiroda, Madanant Temple and Navdurga Saunsthan. Important forts are Aguada Fort, Cabo De Rama Fort, Chapora Fort, Mormuagao Fort and Tiracol Fort. 

 

The carnival like spirit of Goan people is another attraction of Goa tourism. It is epidemic. You can always become the part of festivities going on in every nook and corner most of the time.
